The Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program is one of the two components of the PADI monitor training Instructor Development Course (IDC), the base of the PADI instructor training. The forst part is the course PADI Assistant Instructor, followed by the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor program.

The OWSI program last a minimum of 5 days or 3 days for those who follow the personal study online. It presents the full PADI divers training system and focusses on the improvement of your capabilities as professional scuba diving trainer.

Prerequisites:

  • To be at least 18 years old
  • To be in a good health (medical certificate within less than 12 months required)
  • Being certified Assistant Instructor (AI) or to be scuba diver monitor in active state at another scuba diving training institution during the last 6 months
  • Being certified Emergency First Response Instructor
  • To have at least 60 certified dives with experience in night dive, deep dive and underwater navigation, 100 registered dives for being able to participate in the instructor exam (Instructor Examination)

    Advanced Open Water Diver program
    – the speciality courses and Master Scuba Diver
    Rescue Diver
    Divemaster
    – the divers retention programs
  • Theoretical presentations, presentations in protected environment and presentations in natural environment
  • Evaluation of rescue techniques
  • Evaluation of base techniques of scuba diving
